75 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION SCHOOL COUNSELOR (RETIRED) Chester Upland School District, Pennsylvania Fort Myers, FL ENGLISH TEACHER Rigby High School Rigby, ID PATRICIA THOMPSON GILLEN Early in her career, Patricia Thompson Gillen graduated from Villa Maria Academy in Santiago, Chile, in 1960. After returning to the U.S. and earning a BA in psychology and elementary education from Immaculata University, she contemplated what to study for her master’s degree. Upon the encouragement of her college advisor, she decided to delve into guidance counseling and received an MA in education, with a focus on guidance and counseling, from Villanova University. She considers her experiences in Chile and receiving her two degrees as the highlights of her career. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Kappa Kappa Iota. Ms. Gillen was a teacher for three years and a school counselor for nearly 30 years until she retired from her profession in 1995. In this regard, she served several elementary and middle schools in Chester Upland School District in Pennsylvania as a school guidance counselor, where she counseled students in several capacities. She has also contributed to her local church in her spare time. Maintaining affiliation with the American Association of University Women, Ms. Gillen intends to continue traveling the world in the future, having already visited the Americas, Europe and Caribbean islands. Esther K. Henry desired to work with young students from a formative age. Receiving a BA from Brigham Young University in 1985, her first teaching role was at Springville High School, where she served as an English educator from1985 to 1992. Shortly thereafter, she joined the faculty at Rigby High School, where she has excelled as an English teacher since 1992 and chairperson of the school’s English department since 2018. Alongside these positions, she has also been a dual enrollment adjunct professor of English rhetoric and composition at Idaho State University since 2014. Congruent to her teaching roles, Ms. Henry was the chairperson of the Idaho State Department of Education from 2013 to 2015, where she was also the professional standards commissioner from 2009 to 2015. Drawing upon an MA from Western Governors University in 2004, Ms. Henry has received several accolades. She earned the 2019 Master Educator Premium Award from the Idaho State Board of Education and the 2003 Teacher Preparation Award from the University of Idaho. Additionally, she was named 2003 Teacher of the Year by the Rigby Chamber of Commerce. ESTHER K. HENRY
