He was then recruited as a virology advisor to the Polish Ministry of Agriculture. His research and policy work since 1982 has resulted in cooperation on the establishment of the Pan-African rinderpest eradication campaign, regional rinderpest campaigns and the global rinderpest eradication program, which led to global elimination of rinderpest by 2011. Dr. Wojciechowski has authored/co-authored over 50 research and 35 review papers, 25 FAO reports, 11 FAO training books and 80 reports from duty travels. He is a former UN fellow in veterinary virology and co-founder of the CENTAUR Network, among other roles. He was honored by theWarsawUniversity of Life Sciences with a 2013 Medal and a 2011 Amicus Veterinariae Medal. He received an honorary diploma and certificate of appreciation from PANVAC. Since 2000, Dr. Krzysztof Jan Wojciechowski has excelled as an international consultant on animal health, virology, biotechnology and disease control in the Balkans. He worked as head of the virology section and assistant professor of virology at the Laboratory of Veterinary Hygiene in Warsaw between 1967 and 1977, where he also served as a university lecturer on epizootiology virology and veterinary propedeutics. Thereafter, he worked with the FAO-UN Veterinary Project as an animal health officer in virology in Afghanistan and at the FAO Animal Production and Health Division of the FAO-UN Headquarters in Rome as an animal health officer in virology. He was nominated for the George C. Poppensiek visiting professor in international veterinary medicine at Cornell University in 2001. Dr. Wojciechowski completed studies in veterinary medicine at Warsaw Agricultural University- SGGW in 1961, followed by employment by Polfa Pharmaceuticals as a mycologist and antibiotics fermentation master producer.
