A public servant leader with over a decade of expertise in juvenile justice, youth/adult mentoring, prevention, intervention, advocacy and organizational management, she is a graduate student at the International Institute for Restorative Practices, where she will receive a master’s degree in restorative practices in Fall 2022. Alongside her role as justice policy and programs director, Ms. Pride serves as executive board president with Unity Community Center, a minority-focused 501(c)3 serving the City and County of Delaware. She lends her intellectual property to several national, state and local committees to support justice-related projects with an emphasis on community health and economic mobility. Over the years, she has been instrumental in piloting several initiatives, one currently recognized as a specialty docket by the Supreme Court of Ohio. After conducting research and continuing her advocacy for equitable justice, Ms. Pride became a board member with the European Forum for Restorative Justice in Leuven, Belgium, representing the U.S. She is also a Certified Professional Life Coach committed to people and their growth. DIRECTOR Franklin County Office of Justice Policy and Programs/CASA Columbus, OH Dolores M. Van Rensalier is a research genealogist of over 55 years. When she was 17, she discovered she had hidden African American ancestors. Leaving home to openly honor her African American ancestry and search for her roots, after years of research, she wrote an essay, “Bridge Street to Freedom,” later a book, that officially preserved the Underground Railroad site where her discovered Black abolitionist great-grandfather, William P. Van Rensalier, was a conductor. In 2004, she became founder and president of the HuntoonVan Rensalier Underground Railroad Foundation, leading the board to build the Huntoon-Van Rensalier Underground Railroad Monument in 2014 that featured over 161 personalized bricks. It is in the application process of national designation. Retired, Ms. Van Rensalier’s professional experience included the City Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, City of Los Angeles Community Development Department, Watts Labor Community Action Committee and New Jersey State Council for the Blind. Authoring the books “Bridge Street to Freedom” and her present writing of her memoir “Hidden Roots,” she possesses over 40 community, state and national awards and four awards for authorship.
