From 2013 to 2016, he was the director of clinical pharmacology and, from 2016 to 2020, he excelled as the executive director of clinical pharmacology and quantitative medicine. During his longstanding tenure with the organization, Dr. Romero established their Quantitative Medicine Program, in which he contributed to the transformation of drug development programs for various medical conditions. Prior to joining the Critical Path Institute, Dr. Romero worked in the pharmaceutical industry and in medical education. He has held an MD from Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogota, Colombia, since 1999 and completed training in clinical pharmacology and epidemiology throughout Colombia and Brazil. Demonstrating versatility in his profession, Dr. Romero has sat on the editorial boards of Annals of Pharmacology and Pharmacy between 2016 and 2017, SM Emergency Medicine and Critical Care between 2016 and 2018, as well as Alzheimer’s and Dementia: Translational Research between 2015 and 2019. He has additionally authored several book chapters and articles. He is a founding member of the International Society of Pharmacometrics, as well as a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology. To attest to his astounding success, Dr. Romero received the Distinctive Contributions Award from the Coalition Against Major Diseases, as well as recognized as the Best Academic in Training at Colombian National University.
