170 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Drawing upon over 55 years of experience in academia and mental health counseling, Jean McQuilikin Carfagno has excelled as the founder and clinical director at the Thelma McMillen Recovery Center since 1991. With over two decades of those years as a therapist in chemical dependency inpatient, outpatient and private treatment settings, Ms. Carfagno has treated dozens of individuals, couples and families who have dependency or addiction issues. Previously serving as a therapist at Daniel Freeman Hospital, she was a teacher at Long Beach Unified Schools between 1964 and 1981. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at Antioch University Graduate School, where she teaches addiction courses, and is one of the founders of the outpatient chemical dependency treatment program at Torrance Memorial Hospital. Supported by a bachelor’s degree in psychology fromThe Ohio State University, Ms. Carfagno also earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Lindenwood University and a certification in alcohol and drug counseling from the University of California Los Angeles. She is an elder in her local Presbyterian church and conciliator for the Los Angeles Center for Conflict Resolution. Ederma was influenced by his father, who worked for the U.S. Public Health Service for over 30 years. Drawing upon a BS in biology from Muhlenberg College and MSPH in industrial hygiene from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Mr. Ederma has excelled as the industrial hygiene manager for Corning, Inc., since 2016. Earlier in his career, he flourished in a variety of executivelevel positions for MedImmune, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Amazon.com, Mobil Technology Company, Occusafe and Tenneco Oil Company beginning in 1988. He is a certified safety professional (CSP) and a certified industrial hygienist (CHI). The recipient of an MDiv from the Westminster Seminary of California as well, Mr. Ederma served as a ruling elder for the Knox Orthodox Presbyterian Church between 2013 and 2016, as well as a contributor to the United Way. He has maintained membership with the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. Although his career has been suffused with highlights, he is especially proud of obtaining his certifications, as well as guiding his company through the coronavirus pandemic.
