Concurrent to his professorship, he is also the program director of energy engineering. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Khanna is especially proud of having his energy engineering program be ranked #69 in the United States by the U.S. News. Additionally, he recently won the 20 Under 40 Leadership Recognition Award in 2020 and the Engineer of the Year Award from the Toledo Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2019. The University of Toledo also bestowed upon him several teaching awards, and he has received numerous research grants in the field. Dr. Khanna has authored several refereed journal articles and conference publications, and in his spare time, he has volunteered with the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation and Engineers Without Borders. From a young age, Dr. Raghav Khanna desired to become an educator. Watching his primary and secondary teachers educate the youth about mathematics and science, he subsequently attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he learned the intricacies of energy and engineering. In 2007, he earned a BS in electrical engineering, followed by an MS in electrical engineering in 2010. In 2014, he received a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. At the inception of his career in 2005, Dr. Khanna served as an engineer for Mine Safety Appliances before becoming a process control engineer for PPG Industries in 2006, who then promoted him to solar panel performance research engineer in 2007. Dr. Khanna joined Lockheed Martin shortly thereafter, serving the prestigious company as a systems engineer for one year. While attending to his collegiate studies, he also served HRL Laboratories as a developmental research engineer.
