74 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION Marshall University Huntington, WV After receiving a BA, MA and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952, 1954 and 1958, respectively, Dr. Florence L. Denmark-Wesner began serving the City University of New York (CUNY) as a lecturer in psychology. Remaining with CUNY until 1990, she served as an instructor, professor, affiliate of the Hunter College and the Graduate School Doctoral Faculty of Psychology, and professor of psychology. She joined Pace University in 1988 as the Robert Scott Pace Distinguished Professor of Psychology, where she has also sat as chairperson of the psychology department. Alongside this pursuit, she has been on the psychology advisory committee of the New York Academy of Sciences since 1971. Demonstrating versatility, Dr. Denmark-Wesner was the editor of “Who Discriminates against Women?” and “Psychology: The Leading Edge into the Unknown.” She also served as co-editor of “Engendering Psychology,” “Females and Autonomy: A Life-Span Perspective” and “Violence and the Prevention of Violence,” among other books, as well as three editions of the handbook “Psychology of Women.” To attest to her success, she has earned six honorary doctorates and recently received recognition for mentoring and co-founding the Association for Women in Psychology in 2019. CAMPBELL-MONROE, PHD Drawing upon over 20 years of expertise in human resources and university admissions, Dr. Shelvy L. Campbell-Monroe excels as the inaugural associate dean for diversity and inclusion at Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy. In her role, she has established inclusive programs to foster positive educational experiences for students and faculty, integrating equity into curricula for underserved populations. Previously serving West Virginia State University Research & Development Corporation as a graduate records and admissions supervisor and a civil rights and equity compliance administrator, she has conducted several presentations within her areas of interest. Dr. Campbell-Monroe holds a BS from West Virginia State University, MS in industrial and employee relations and EdS from Marshall University, and PhD in higher education leadership from Capella University. She was named West Virginia Wonder Woman for 2020 from West Virginia Living Magazine and earned the Martin Luther King “Living the DreamAward” fromWest VirginiaMartin Luther King Jr. State Holiday Commission. She is president-elect of the National Association of Minority Educators, who gave her the Emerging Leader Award.
