82 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Drawing upon a BA in French from Pacific Union College in 1958, an MA in biblical studies in 1967 and EdD in religion education from Andrews University in 1978, Dr. Nancy Jean Vyhmeister is renowned worldwide for her expertise in theological research and religious studies. Supported by decades of experience, she most recently excelled as an educator at the Adventist University of Africa, established by her late husband, Dr. Werner Vyhmeister. Dr. Vyhmeister taught the first extension courses for AUA, as well. She taught in Chile, Argentina, the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, the Philippines, India, Korea, Japan and Indonesia. She spent 18 years at Andrews University as assistant, associate and full professor of world missions from 1975 to 1984 and 1991 to 2000. From 1984 to 1991, she and her husband helped establish the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies in the Philippines. A noteworthy author, Dr. Vyhmeister assisted in translating and editing “Comentario Biblico Adventista” from 1978 to 1996. Her book, “Quality Research Papers,” is in its fourth edition and has been translated into several languages. She was honored as 2007 Woman of the Year by the Association of Adventist Women. RELIGIOUS STUDIES EDUCATOR Loma Linda, CA Dr. Sheldon G. Weeks has enjoyed a fruitful, 70-year long career in myriad industries, including academia, government affairs and sociology, among other fields. Most recently serving as the director and co-owner of Evaluation Services TeamBotswana Ltd. from 2001 until his retirement in 2018, he also contributed much time to the University of Botswana, serving as a foundation dean in the School of Graduate Studies for six years and director of graduate studies and research faculty education for five years. Previously employed by the University of Papua New Guinea, University Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Makerere University in Uganda and Harvard University in various educational roles, Dr. Weeks commenced his career as a social group worker at the Manhattanville Neighborhood Center in 1951. Drawing upon a BA in psychology from Swarthmore College, MEd in education from Antioch University and EdD in sociology from Harvard University, Dr. Weeks has excelled as an editorial board member, editor, author, co-author and contributor of myriad publications. Notably, he is a fellow of the Society for Comparative and International Education, having previously served as president of the Southern African Comparative and History of Education Society in the late 1990s.
