108 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENTREPRENEURS Possessing a passion for horticulture since she was a young girl, Anne Gryllakis Roberts has excelled as the president of Anne Roberts Gardens, Inc., since 2002 and the owner of A2 Landscape Contractors, Inc., since 2015. Prior to delving into her passionate career in landscape and gardening services, she worked extensively in the advertising industry in which she applied her skills in marketing, writing and producing to a variety of media companies. From 1989 to 1993, she served as a television producer for WKMG, followed by a three-year tenure with WCIU-TV as an account executive in media sales between 1994 and 1997. Later in her mediarelated career, Ms. Roberts took on the role of account executive in media sales and new business development for WCPX-TV 38 from 2006 to 2010. Upon her departure from this role, she decided to delve into her passion for plants on a full-time basis. Ms. Roberts draws upon an associate degree in arts and English from the Massachusetts Bay Community College and a bachelor’s degree in communications and media from Worcester State University. In 2009, she became certified as an ornamental plant specialist in horticulture through the School of the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Civically involved as well, Ms. Roberts is involved extensively with the American Heart Association, as well as with the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association. Attributing her immense success to her passion for her work, Ms. Roberts recalls that a career highlight has been establishing native prairies and planting thousands of trees and shrubbery on a 35-acre site in the State of Wisconsin. As a testament to her success in her dual industries, she was accepted into the Goldman Sachs Ten Thousand Small Business Program in 2012. Looking toward the future of her career and her two companies, Ms. Roberts intends to eventually sell her businesses after building them up to their full potential.
