159 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS A Cuba native, Dr. Rafael A. Munne traveled to the Dominican Republic for higher education, receiving a Bachelor of Science and an MD from the Universidad Central del Este. Earning his medical degree in 1981, he has since accrued 40 years of professional experience in the fields of internal medicine and psychiatric medicine. Since 2008, he has excelled as the medical director of Port St. Lucie Hospital Behavioral Health in Florida, in which he treats individuals with various mental illnesses. Alongside this endeavor, he has also served as a forensic psychiatrist for G4S since 2013 and a medical director for Treasure Coast Community Health, Inc., since 2019. Earlier in his career, he was a medical director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York between 1992 and 2007. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Munne is especially proud of helping patients with schizophrenia and other complex illnesses, in which he has used injectable medication to help with medication compliance. While working at the hospital, he and his team participated in the detoxification unit, which brought him great pride as a member of the medical crisis team. He attributes his success to his pursuit of his dream, as well as the values his parents instilled in him from a young age, including responsibility and dependability. Outside of his primary pursuits, Dr. Munne has served as an educator at Nova University. Now residing in Stuart, Florida, he has been married to his wife Barbara for many years. He has three children – Janette, Michelle and Anthony – and one grandson, Derek. Looking toward the future, he intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
