59 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Over the course of more than 40 years, Ms. Liang has worked in four separate U.S. states and numerous school districts, teaching students with various disabilities between the ages of 2 and 26. Currently, she excels as a special education teacher for the Holland Public Schools in Michigan. Ms. Liang has earned certifications in teaching the cognitively and emotionally impaired and those with learning disabilities. She received a Master of Science in Education, with a concentration in Special Education, from Western Illinois University in 1998. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Education, with a focus on special education administration, from Grand Valley State University in 2008. Alongside her academic path, Ms. Liang has also sat on the test drafting committee for the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification Exam for Cognitive Impairment, and was a member of the team that created and wrote the MIAccess Science Assessment alternative content expectations that was developed to correspond with new Michigan K-12 Science Standards. Furthermore, she has been an item writer and evaluator for the state tests for students with disabilities since 2014. Civically engaged as well, Ms. Liang has excelled as a district representative with the Special Olympics, as well as a Christian educator for students with special needs in two local churches. As a testament to her success, she was the recipient of a Governor’s Award from the State of Illinois in 2001. She attributes her success to her ability to understand that any child can learn regardless of their age or circumstance. Looking toward the future, Ms. Liang intends to continue working as a special education teacher in a substitute capacity within her local school district. Since 1977, Susan L. Liang has excelled as a special education teacher, largely inspired by her own parents, who were also both educators. Notably, Ms. Liang’s mother was a special education teacher prior to the discipline becoming popular among academic circles. SUSAN L.
