PRESIDENT, SASSO REALTY EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, KNIGHT PROPERTIES LLC Massapequa, NY After moving to New Jersey at 5 years old, Joe Serina spent time walking the gardens in his neighborhood. As he grew older, he sought to help others work on their gardening skills, which was done organically at that time. From this, he learned the intricacies of organic gardening and has been working in the landscaping and gardening industry since 1968. He spent two years in the U.S. Army and started his own landscaping business in 1970 until 2000. After serving in the field for several decades, he started another small business, Greener Lawns (organic lawn care), in 2001. Consisting of himself and one other individual, Greener Lawns provides highquality organic services. The title “Greener Lawns” came from his own special blend of chemical fertilizer that was very low in salt. The blending house inquired about a name for the recipe, which Mr. Serina named “Greener Lawns.” Mr. Serina is especially proud of successfully treating lawns 100% naturally and organically over the course of his career. Noting that his company offers three different programs, he is humbled by the process as he is always learning something new about the industry.
