Following his receipt of his medical degree, he completed a rotating internship and residency in internal medicine at Norton Community Hospital in 2008. At the inception of his career after completing his medical training, Dr. Combs served as a primary care physician in internal medicine at Family Health Care Associates, as well as an osteopathic medical student and geriatrics clinical preceptor at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was chair of medicine of the Russell County Medical Center, where he also served as vice chief of staff nominee, secretary of the medical executive committee, electrocardiogram/stress laboratory supervisor physician, medical director of respiratory therapy andmedical director of physical therapy. Dr. Combs joined Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in 2014, where he was an emergency room physician and chief of staff, among other roles. Since 2018, he has excelled as the medical director and internal medicine primary care physician of the Carilion Tazewell Veteran’s Affairs Clinic. Concurrently, he is a clinicmedical director for New Beginnings Pulmonary Rehabilitation, medical director of Divine Home Care and associate medical director of Legacy Hospice. Further, Dr. Combs is the medical examiner in the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Tazewell County, Virginia, and assistant clinical preceptor at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Looking toward the future, Dr. Combs intends to continue his work with the VA clinic while expanding his expertise to civilian-oriented medicine. He is a first- and second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, is engaged with the Freedom Ministries Church, and maintains membership with the American College of Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association and Psi Chi. Inspired to work in the health care industry after witnessing many of his family members become physicians, Dr. Kevin S. Combs received a DO from the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004, having formerly received a BA from the University of Tennessee and an AA in psychology and pre-medicine from Pellissippi KEVIN S.
