PORTER Possessing a lifelong interest in health care, Evelyn M. Porter most recently served as a nursing supervisor for the San Francisco VA Medical Center from 2004 until retiring in 2019. Beginning her career at with the medical center in 1972 as a nursing assistant, she went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer turned major. While with the Army, she served the U.S. Army Reserve in myriad capacities, including as a member of the post-anesthesia care unit for the Walter Reed Medical Center. She departed from military service in 2010. Concurrent to her Army tenure, Ms. Porter served the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Santa Rita Jail, the City College of San Francisco and UC San Francisco. The recipient of a BA from UC Berkeley, BS in nursing from UC San Francisco and MEd from Holy Names University, Ms. Porter is certified in advanced trauma and life support, legal nurse consulting and home health care instruction, among other certifications. For her success, she was honored with an Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Commendation Medal, Component Achievement Medal and Army Reserve Ribbon. Notably, she received the Special Contribution Award from the San Francisco VA Medical Center. An athlete in his youth, Robert H. Rainey witnessed his fellow athletes sustain injuries, which often required physical therapy. These experiences helped him realize that he desired to help others in the same capacity; therefore, in 1981, he received a BA in physical therapy from Tuskegee University. Drawing upon four decades of experience, he has been serving as a physical therapist and program director at Kindred at Home since 2015. Earlier in his career, he worked and managed in various home health care, hospitals, occupational health, skilled nursing and outpatient settings. Notably, Mr. Rainey serves as the president of the Physical Therapy Network for Independent Practitioners and a board member of the Physical Therapy Network in the State of Georgia. In these roles, he has helped write and defend proposals to insurance companies for business for the medical networks. He attributes his success to hard work and his passion for continuous learning. He cites a highlight of his career to be educating his patients on the healing process and how they can continue their treatment upon their discharge.
