51 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Attending the University of Toledo College of Engineering, she received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, followed by an MBA in management. She later received a PhD in business administration and microorganizational theory, with a minor in applied statistics, from Kent State University in 1997. Dr. Greer first served as an engineering clerk for Timken Roller Bearing from 1981 to 1982. Remaining with the company, she was an engineering co-op for the following two years before joining Jeep Eagle/Chrysler Jeep as a plant engineer. From there, she served Ford Motor Company as a process engineer, manufacturing engineering, supervisor and production engineer until 1991. To this end, Dr. Greer entered education as an educator at numerous universities, such as Bowling Green State University, Kent State University, Oakland University, the University of Detroit-Mercy and Northern Kentucky University. She served the latter university as an assistant, associate and full professor and department chairperson until 2016. Thereafter, Dr. Greer joined Wayne State University as an associate professor of global supply chain management. Since 2018, she has also excelled as the associate dean of Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business. Dr. Greer has been a visiting professor at Sookmyung Women’s University in South Korea and a visiting scholar and professor at the University of East London in the United Kingdom. She has contributed peer-reviewed articles to several professional journals, including “Institutional Uncertainty and Supply Chain Quality Management: A Conceptual Framework” in the Quality Management Journal. Dr. Greer received the 2018 Best Theoretical Paper Award by the Decision Science Institute and 2005 Best Visual Paper Award from the Academy of Management in 2005. Growing up in the 1960s, Dr. Bertie M. Greer saw a lack of representation of African American educators. Interested in the academic sector, she decided to delve into the field to become a pioneering example to other minority groups who wish to enter the same profession, but feel as though they are underrepresented.
