77 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGIST, EMERITUS RESEARCH PROFESSOR University of Connecticut Storrs Mansfield, CT Interested in the sciences since childhood, Dr. Hans Laufer attended the City College of New York, where he earned a BS in biology in 1952. From there he received an MS in genetics from Brooklyn College in 1954, followed by a PhD in developmental biology from Cornell University in 1958. Dr. Laufer completed a National Research Council post-doctorate in the Carnegie Institute of Washington and joined Johns Hopkins University as an assistant professor of biology in 1959. After six years, he joined the University of Connecticut in Storrs in 1965, where he ascended from associate professor to full professor to emeritus research professor by 2021. Dr. Laufer was a summer investigator for the Marine Biology Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, from 1962 to 2019 and was a visiting professor at a myriad of international universities. He holds a patent to enhance shrimp reproduction in aquaculture. Notably, he has published more than 175 papers. Dr. Laufer received a 2010 Congressional Recognition and the 1989 Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health. HANS LAUFER, PHD CHAIR, PROFESSOR Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management Kolkata, West Bengal, India Supported by a bachelor’s degree from St. Xavier’s College at Calcutta University and a PhD from the New York University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Sir Soumitra Kumar Mallick has excelled as chairman and professor at the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management since 2013. Concurrently, he has been Earl of York and member of the International Monetary Fund since 2021 and served as Einstein chairman for the Institute for Advanced Study in the department of natural sciences at Princeton University from 2019 to 2021. He has been a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India since 1985 and formerly served in executive-level positions across the education, manufacturing, power, chemical and paper industries. Dr. Mallick is a contributor to the editorial boards of the Journal of Composite Materials and Finance and Markets, as well as a published writer. Notably, he earned a Millennium Mathematics Prize for his research in self-energy and artificial intelligence and was the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize.
