Eventually, she attained an MD from the Texas A&M Health Science Center in 2011 and became board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians. Dr. Blalock desired to go to medical school because she wanted to create long-term relationships with her patients. Thus, her love for family medicine was born, and it cultivated into a lifelong passion. Through her certifications and expertise, she is able to care for patients of all ages from newborns to geriatric patients. She thoroughly enjoys the vast specialty of family medicine and, throughout the course of her career, has performed outpatient and inpatient care. Since 2016, she has excelled as a clinical assistant professor at the Texas A&M College of Medicine. Notably, Dr. Blalock is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and also maintains affiliation with the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association and Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Civically involved, she previously served on the board of directors of Health For All for six years. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Blalock was named Family Medicine Physician of the Year in her county for five consecutive years. In 2020, she was also named a Texas Rising Star Physician and a Family Medicine Preceptor for the AIM Program at the Texas A&M College of Medicine. She attributes her success to her team’s support. Looking toward the future, she intends to still be practicing medicine in her hometown, and wants to further expand her role in geriatric care and long-term care facilities. Likewise, she would like to remain teaching at Texas A&M College of Medicine. Initially intrigued by her local doctor’s office when she was a young child, Dr. Katherine Blalock endeavored to pursue a career in medicine. Even from a formative age, she exclaimed she wanted to be a physician when she grew up and, as time progressed, she excelled in the sciences.
