65 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Desiring to enter the field of economics in light of his father’s profession as a banker, Dr. Richard E. Quandt commenced his career at Princeton University in 1956, where he first served as a faculty member. Escalating to professor of economics in 1964, he then became the Hughes-Rogers Professor of Economics in 1976. Dr. Quandt served as chairman of the department of economics between 1968 and 1971 and again between 1985 and 1988. He concluded his tenure with Princeton in 1995 as professor emeritus. During his career at Princeton University, Dr. Quandt served as a research professor via the Ford Foundation and was the director of the Financial Research Center. He has shared his expertise abroad, sitting on the board of directors of the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education in Prague, member of the advisory committee of the College of Finance and Accounting in Budapest, member of the advisory council at Budapest University and visiting professor at Birkbeck College and London School of Economics. Outside of his primary work, Dr. Quandt has lent his breadth of knowledge to several publications in editorial and authorship capacities. In 1959, he co-authored “The New Inflation” and, in 1969, co-authored “Strategies and Rational Decisions in the Securities Option Market.” Other publications to his credit have included “The Changing Landscape in Eastern Europe: A Personal Perspective on Philanthropy and Technology Transfer,” “Racetrack Betting: The Professor’s Guide to Strategies” and “The Conflict Between Equilibrium and Disequilibrium Theories.” Furthermore, Dr. Quandt served as an associate editor for the Journal of the American Statistical Association, the Bell Journal of Economics, the Journal of Comparative Economics and Empirica. Dr. Quandt received the 2002 Karel Englis Medal from the Czech Academy of Science and the 1997 Order of Merit from the Government of Hungary. In 1991, he earned a Gold Medal from Eotvos Lorand University and, in 1998, he received a Medal Merentibus from Jagiellonian University.
