Lopez joined the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District (GCCISD) in 1984 and remained with the district until her retirement in 2012. During her tenure at GCCISD, she served as a first-grade teacher, parental assistant for children who were not meeting full potential, drafter of an early childhood grant for the Even Start Program, second-grade bilingual teacher, and a home liaison and local MEP state representative for the Title I Migrant Educator Program. Prior to these appointments, Ms. Lopez excelled with Matthiessen Elementary School, where she taught English as a second language to migrant students. Throughout her lengthy career, she continually encouraged students and their families in remaining committed to their academic studies. Holding a BS and an MS from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Ms. Lopez is certified as an elementary school teacher and in bilingual education, English as a second language and parent education. She was honored with a 2019 Award for Excellence from Lee College’s Hispanic Education Access and Completion Committee and was nominated for 1991 Bilingual Teacher of the Year by the GCCISD Bilingual Teachers Association. McBride has excelled as the Arthur G. Hansen Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Purdue University since 2001. First joining Purdue University’s faculty in 1973 as an associate professor, he was promoted to full professor in 1976. Earlier in his career, Dr. McBride served Yale University as an instructor of philosophy, assistant professor and associate professor between 1964 and 1973. He also briefly lectured at Northwestern University in 1972. Alongside his teaching efforts, Dr. McBride is a prolific author and editor, having penned many works on social theory and 20th century Eastern European political philosophy. The author of “The Idea of Values” in 2003 and editor of “Social and Political Philosophy” in 2006, he has furthered his expertise by being a past president of Fédération Internationale des Sociétés de Philosophie. For his achievements, he was honored as a Decorated Chevalier of the Ordre des Palmes Academiques and earned a Silver Medal from the Institute of Philosophy at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
