Mr. Holcomb first joined the mortuary as a funeral director, in which he helped his family run the establishment. After his uncle’s passing in 2003, Mr. Holcomb assumed leadership as owner and manager, where he remains today. He subsequently re -invented the mortuary, retitl ing it Henson-Holcomb Mortuary, Inc., in 2010. In 2005, Mr. Holcomb was joined by his wife, Irene, in running the family business. Now in operation through himself, his wife and his sons, Henson-Holcomb Mortuary is acclaimed for its family-oriented nature. Mr. Holcomb attributes his and his business’ success to his social nature; he emphasizes that he has always established strong connections with those who employ his services, and he does his very best to help others in need. At the inception of his career, Mr. Holcomb received a BBA from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (formerly known as Agricultural Mechanical & Normal College). Thereafter, he received a BS in embalming from the John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science and received his funeral director license in 1965 and embalming license in 1969. He has since maintained membership with the Arkansas Funeral Association and National Funeral Directors Association. Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Holcomb has served as treasurer of the Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church and, further, is a former member of the Pine Bluff Citizen Boys Club and the Pine Bluff Wastewater Utility Commission. Looking toward the future, he intends to remain in business for as long as he is able and continue his family’s legacy. After departing from the military in 1968, Lloyd Artis Holcomb Sr. joined his family’s funeral business, Henson Mortuary, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Established by his uncle, L.E.
