ALEXANDER, RN, MD Dr. Janice H. Alexander began her career as a certified nursing assistant, licensed practical nurse and critical care registered nurse. She went on to become board-certified in family medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. Additionally, she has been a clinical instructor at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University. She developed a Women’s Health program at Columbia Hospital, where she was a staff surgeon of obstetrics and gynecology for 22 years. Subsequently, she was affiliated with Mayo Health System and RichlandMedical Center. Currently, she sees patients at Cedarburg Family Wellness and Aesthetics Center. She holds a BSN and MD from Wayne State University and has delivered over 9,000 babies. Dr. Alexander has contributed to missionary work in Tanzania, East Africa and Honduras. She was recognized in Mwanza, Tanzania, when they dedicated the hospital and medical center she helped start in her honor. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and was recognized with several Patient Choice Awards, Resident Favorite Staff Awards, Mayo Health System Award for Patient Satisfaction and Wisconsin Champion for Women’s Health Award, among others. Drawn to nursing since she was a young girl, Dr. Karin L. Ciance attended Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1983 to receive her RN, then attended Worcester State University and received a BSN in 1988. An RN in the State of Massachusetts, she has served hospitals and clinics over the years, such as Worcester City Hospital, Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Family Health Center of Worcester, Inc., where she was director of clinical services until 2007. Currently, Dr. Ciance is an associate professor of nursing at Anna Maria College, where she teaches BSN and online RN programs. She also obtained an MSN fromWorcester State University in 2004 and DNP from Walden University in 2014. Dr. Ciance was the first nurse at Anna Maria College to receive tenure and the promotion to associate professor of nursing in the past 75 years. She authored several articles to the Journal of Nursing and Care and maintains membership with the National Association of Female Executives, the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau, who elected her as the president of the Iota Phi at-large chapter in 2019, where she remains today.
