Federman is a celebrated astrophysicist, researcher and educator who amassed over 45 years of experience prior to his retirement in 2018. While studying toward his doctorate, Dr. Federman developed a strong interest in astrophysics, particularly regarding spectroscopy and interstellar gas clouds. During his graduate studies, he served as a senior research technician at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical Center. As his career progressed, Dr. Federman completed postdoctoral fellowships at New York University and the University of Texas at Austin, also serving UT Austin as a lecturer for one year.
