150 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY Christopher S. Adams Jr. entered the United States Air Force in 1952, following ROTC training and college graduation. Onward into pilot training and combat crew duty, flying the Mighty B-36 and the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. Following 10 years flying bombers, he moved on to become an ICBM combat crew commander. As the Vietnam War progressed, he served two tours flying C-141 transports and, subsequently, to remote duty in Thailand, serving as a Combat Support Group Director of Operations. General Adams served as Director of Plans and Policy and as Executive Officer to the Director, Defense Nuclear Agency. Returning to Strategic Air Command, he became an ICBM wing commander, Air Division commander and promoted to brigadier general. Thereafter promoted to major general, he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command Headquarters, serving in several staff positions upward to being appointed Chief of Staff. General Adams retired from the Air Force in 1983 after 31 years of active duty to accept an invitation to become an Associate Director, Los Alamos National Laboratory. After four years at the Lab, he accepted an appointment as Vice President, Government Systems, Andrew Corporation, and an opportunity to return to his native Texas. With Andrew Corp., he found himself working across the world, including Beijing and finally five years in Russia, overseeing activities in the recovery of their failed commercial communications systems. Following 12 years with Andrew Corp, he finally retired. Not one to come to a complete stop and, with the urgency and encouragement of family, friends and colleagues, notwithstanding personal counseling with the late Tom Clancy, he documented many of his experiences, sharing the breadth of his world travels in published documentaries and authoring spy novels. With his AS from Tarleton State University, BS from Texas A&MUniversityCommerce, and MS in military studies from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, General Adams has received numerous awards, including the U.S. Distinguished Service Medal and DoD Superior Service Medal.
