201 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS REGISTERED NURSE (RETIRED) Jesse Brown VA Medical Center Chicago, IL AUTHOR, PSYCHOLOGIST Department of Developmental Services Sharon, MA SUNG DUK PARK, RN After graduating from the Kyungpook National University College of Nursing in South Korea, Sung Duk Park immigrated to the United States with a passion for serving patients as a registered nurse. Over the course of her extensive career, she served as a nurse with the Lincoln West Medical Center for 15 years and, most recently, with the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center for 18 years until her recent retirement. Post-retirement, Ms. Park has continued serving as a volunteer with the Chicago O’Hare International Airport since 2008, and further thrived as a former vice president of the Chicago Korean Christian Medical Missionary, board member of the Korean YWCA and Korean Traditional Artist Association, and a volunteer with the Chicago Arirang Lion’s Club, Korean American Community Services and Regional Medical Reserve Corps. To attest to her success, Ms. Park was profiled as an Outstanding Nurse by the Korean Nurses Association of Chicago and earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which was bestowed upon her for outstanding volunteerism through the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. Looking forward, she intends to continue her involvement with humanitarian efforts. Drawing upon her own formative experiences with mental illness, Dr. Patricia Hamilton Shook sought to enter the field of psychology to help others who struggled with similar feelings. As she grappled with the industry, her interest soon turned to developmental and intellectual disabilities. She holds a BA in psychology and an MA in developmental psychology, both from San Francisco State University, as well as a PhD in counseling psychology from Northeastern University, which she obtained in 2000. Over the course of her career, she has excelled as a psychologist with the Department of Developmental Services in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, through which she has worked intimately with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At the Department, she makes clinical decisions regarding patient eligibility. Outside of her primary efforts, Dr. Shook authored the book “Seeking Glory: A Novel About Relationships, Loss and Finding Your Way Home” in 2018, which was recognized with an award from the Colorado Independent Publishers Association in 2019.
