205 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE in the State of Florida, Mr. Corrada considers a highlight of his career to be his opportunity to bring Super Bowls and Republican National Conventions to the city. Earlier, he served the City of Tampa as a neighborhood services administrator and chief of staff, as well as the City of Miami as the director of their Parks and Recreation department. He was also the administrator for tourism, recreation and cultural arts at the Tampa Convention Center. Congruent to his hospitality career, Mr. Corrada served as an educator in the MiamiDade County Public School System for nearly 20 years. While he was enrolled in college, he felt a calling to become a teacher for children with disabilities. After graduating from college, he advanced through the ranks to become the youngest Hispanic principal of an all-Black high school in Liberty City, Little Haiti, Miami, at the age of 33. Subsequently, his work at the high school won the attention of the media and local mayor, who garnered Mr. Corrada with remarkable enthusiasm and admiration for his work. Mr. Corrada holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and exceptional student education, magna cum laude, and a master’s degree in educational leadership, both from the University of Miami. He later became a doctoral candidate in educational leadership at Florida International University. Maintaining membership with the Tampa Club, Destinations Florida, Destinations International and the U.S. Travel Association, he has earned numerous awards for his expertise. Mr. Corrada was named the 2013 Hispanic Man of the Year by Hillsborough County. He also won three HSMAI Platinum Adrian Awards and two Henry Awards for Visit Tampa Bay, as well as the Top 25 Award for Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality, Sales and Marketing from HSMAI. Involved in the hospitality and tourism industries for much of his career, Santiago Corrada has served as the president and chief executive officer of Visit Tampa Bay in Florida since 2013.
