Driven to pursue excellence, Mr. Pleis attended Northern Arizona University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in physics and mathematics in 2014. From there, he became a senior research and development technician for Palo Alto Health Sciences from 2014 to 2015. Thereafter, he served as a research scientist for ClearSign Combustion Corporation from 2016 to 2020, where he designed one of the most advanced combustion reactors across the globe. Since 2020, Mr. Pleis has excelled as a senior research scientist, president and owner of Spacewhale Technologies in Seattle. Since the inception of his scientific career, he has obtained 12 U.S. patents in the field and has lectured on numerous topics, including on high voltage to manipulate flames to lower emissions in industrial applications and how to use plasma to stabilize combustion in more efficient ways for pilots. Civically engaged, he is a former construction volunteer for the Seattle-King County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. A past member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Mr. Pleis has been honored on a plethora of occasions for his expertise in the field. He was awarded a small business grant, as well as a Golden Eagle Award. Additionally, during his studies, he won athletic awards in track and field. Mr. Pleis attributes his success to the advice and encouragement of Dr. Donald Kendrick, who was his manager at Clearsign Combustion Corporation. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue experiencing the growth and success of his career, including the growth of Spacewhale Technologies. He would also like to remain working with several power companies in Canada. While in high school, Jackson Pleis attended a physics class that was taught by a teacher who inspired him to enter the sciences.
