159 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Hailing from a family of health care professionals, Dr. Robert Bonke Booher was encouraged by his cousin, who was an orthodontist, to pursue the field of dentistry. Subsequently, he attended Purdue University, from which he received a Bachelor of Science in general science and mathematics in 1971. Following his receipt of his bachelor’s degree, he earned a DDS from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1975. At the inception of his career in 1975, Dr. Booher served as a dentist in the United States Army for two years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, until 1977. Since that time, he has been recognized as a major in the United States Army Dental Corps Reserve. Presently, he is a major in the Retired Army Corps Reserves. From 1977 to 1979, Dr. Booher served as an associate dentist at Dental Health Associates, whereupon he advanced to the position of co-owner until 1980. Since 1980, he has excelled as the owner of Associates in Family Dentistry in Avon, Indiana. Congruent to this effort, he further served as an adjunct professor in general dentistry and oral medicine at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2018. Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Booher has taken continuing education courses, in which he has concentrated his efforts on cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, TMJ migraine therapy and dental sleep medicine. Following more than 100 hours of continuing education coursework and constructingmore than 100 oral appliances, he was named a diplomat of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2014 and of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy in 2016. Likewise, he has collaborated with a myriad of sleep physicians and primary care physicians in alternate treatments for sleep apnea, such as CPAP. To remain abreast of developments in the field, Dr. Booher is a member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, Indianapolis District Dental Society, Indiana Sleep Society and Illinois Sleep Society. He is also an associate member of the Chicago Dental Society. As a testament to his success, he was named Best Dentist in Hendrick’s County from 2003 to 2005.
