167 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS a fellowship in medical genetics and pediatric endocrinology at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital prior to embarking upon her career. First serving in the Department of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Washington as an assistant professor beginning in 1972, Dr. Hall advanced to associate professor and full professor until departing a decade later. During this time, she participated in the development of clinics in medical genetics across the Northwestern United States. She then joined the University of British Columbia in Canada as a full professor of medical genetics. She also served as head of the Department of Pediatrics from 1990 to 2000. Dr. Hall garnered the title of professor emerita in 2005. Her instruction in the field was based on her own research in clinical genetics and pediatrics. Dr. Hall has edited 15 books, as well as authored 12 books, 65 book chapters, 50 conference proceedings and more than 365 peer-reviewed articles in relation to her areas of expertise. She has also served as co-founder of the British Columbia Pediatrics Association and is a past president of the American Pediatric Association and the American Society of Human Genetics. She is a fellow of the American Board of Pediatrics, American College of Medical Genetics, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Canadian College of Medical Geneticists, Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and American Board of Medical Genetics, where she is a founding board member and past vice president. Dr. Hall was titled an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1998 and received Outstanding Alumni Awards from both Wellesley College and the University of Washington School of Medicine. Currently, she is studying the effects of arthrogryposis. Her research has aided in the advancement of understanding birth defects. Dr. Judith G. Hall was greatly inspired by her college professors, who introduced her to the field of genetics as they relate to medicine. First attaining a BA from Wellesley College in 1961, she then matriculated at the University of Washington in Seattle, receiving an MD in 1966.
