Dr. Han remains an active part of Geisinger as an associate. During his tenure as the director of pain medicine from 2006 to 2018, Dr. Han grew Geisinger's pain practice from one to five pain centers and developed many innovative pain programs. Dr. Han and his team developed the Multidisciplinary Pain Program and the Garden of Hope, remarkably improving the quality of life for select patients who regained hope and healthier, productive lifestyles. Dr. Han received the highest national level of patient satisfaction in 2008 and was named to the Top 150 Pain Management Physicians by the Beckers ASC Review in 2012. Dr. Han acknowledges unyielding support from his wife, Hyang, and his three bright and wonderful children: Robert, Christina and David. Inspired by their father’s dedication and hard work ethic in caring for patients, Dr. John J. Han and his sister diligently studied to become successful, caring medical doctors like their father. Dr. Han obtained an MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine after completing an MS in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University. He subsequently completed an internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital, a residency in anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic and Henry Ford Medical Center, and a pain management fellowship at Henry Ford Medical Center, where he was named a chief fellow. Dr. Han holds board certification in anesthesiology and pain management from the American Board of Anesthesiology, pain management from the American Board of Pain Medicine, and interventional pain medicine from the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice. Dr. Han currently holds a medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Over 22 years, Dr. Han excelled at Geisinger.
