186 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Desiring to put himself through college to obtain a medical degree, Dr. Daniel E. Parks received a BA in biology from Suffolk University in 1986 while also completing the ROTC program. Receiving an MD from the University of the Health Sciences in 1992, he subsequently completed a residency in family medicine at the Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1995. During his time in the United States Army, Dr. Parks discovered his calling: taking care of soldiers and their families. He became director of the Family Medicine Residency Clinic in 1998, serving until 2001 when he became deputy director of the White House Medical Unit, where he served for eight years. Following his role at the White House, Dr. Parks became a battalion surgeon with the Army from 2009 to 2010, as well as a senior flight surgeon at The Pentagon from 2009 to 2013. Retiring from the Army at the rank of colonel, he thereafter served as a regional medical director for PartnerMD from 2013 to 2014. For the following two years, he was a physician in private practice and, subsequently, the chief medical officer of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 2016 to 2017. Since 2017, Dr. Parks has excelled as the medical director of urgent care at Augusta Health. Emphasizing that his most notable achievement was completing medical school, as it opened doors for him to aid individuals with health problems, Dr. Parks is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine. He has been certified in life support, cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and acupuncture. For his efforts, he was recognized with Best Bedside Manner in 2019. Additionally, in light of his military service, he has received a myriad of military decorations, including a Senior Flight Surgeon Badge, an Iraq Campaign Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, a Defense Superior Service Medal and a Legion of Merit.
