96 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING Drawing upon six decades of professional experience in electronics, Willard E. Salter Sr. has excelled as the senior director of test and evaluation at Fairchild Space and Electronics in Germantown, Maryland. He previously served the corporation as a test technician, supervisor and test engineering department manager beginning in 1963. A division of Fairchild Aircraft, Fairchild Space and Electronics was an American aircraft and aerospace manufacturing company with three locations in New York, Maryland and Texas. Earlier in his career, Mr. Salter was an electronic test technician at the Emerson Research Laboratory in Silver Spring, Maryland, between 1961 and 1963. He additionally spent time as a customer service technician for the Dictaphone Corporation. To prepare for his career, Mr. Salter pursued a formal education at Montgomery Junior College, from which he received a technical degree in 1961. Shortly thereafter, he earned a Bachelor of Science in human behavioral science from National Louis University in Chicago in 1963. While attending to his collegiate studies, Mr. Salter served active duty in the United States Navy aboard the USS Saratoga (CVA-60) from 1956 to 1958. He later served in the Army Reserves between 1958 and 1963. An elected fellow of his undergraduate alma mater, National Louis University, Mr. Salter also maintained membership with the Institute of Environmental Science. Civically engaged in his spare time, he has volunteered with the organization People Helping People. He attributes his immense success to his willingness to work diligently in order to complete projects, as well as the support of his colleagues. Among his notable highlights, Mr. Salter is especially proud of his progression from a test technician to senior director within Fairchild Space and Electronics. Mr. Salter received an Achievement Certificate, which was signed by several astronauts, as a testament to his success.
