113 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENTREPRENEURS Noting that her parents and prior generations of family members hailed from Cades Cove, Tennessee, Mary Sue Gregory says her family built a cabin on a mountain, which she recalls oversaw the beautiful landscape of Tennessee. In light of her family’s residence in the area, she felt an innate responsibility to preserve Cades Cove, and later discovered that other Cades Cove residents were equally concerned about the legacy of the valley and their family’s heritage. As such, she established the Cades Cove Preservation Association, Inc., more than 20 years ago in 2001. She previously served as president and treasurer of the association and continues support by providing documentation and family histories. Ms. Gregory’s pursuit of preserving the legacies of Cades Cove residents received widespread media attention, which aided in the establishment of the Cades Cove Preservation Association. Likewise, she and fellow team members created the Cades Cove Preservation Association Museum, which is situated in the Thompson-Brown House of Maryville, Tennessee. Earlier, Ms. Gregory was involved in electrical and computer engineering, flourishing as an electrical drafter before becoming an engineering department assistant. She holds certifications as a Computer Aided Designer, Quality Analyst, and certified ISO 9001 auditor and instructor. She holds a BBA from Maryville College and studies in museum management. She established five other community organizations to preserve local history. Receiving accolades for her community service, she was a member of the National Organization for Women. Ms. Gregory is a proponent of women’s rights and emphasizes that one is never too old to pursue their true passions. She is especially proud of participating in women’s marches in Washington, D.C., during the women’s rights movement. She attributes her success to being afforded opportunities to accomplish her goals and having the fortitude to achieve greatness in America – the country that provided a path for a poor farm girl to earn a college degree, travel the world, walk in the footsteps of Caesar in Rome and Apostle Paul in Greece, organize weekly protests at The White House, and save local histories of Tennessee and Florida.
