Between his internship and general surgery training, Dr. Lohr served as a flight surgeon in the Second Marine Air Wing with the U.S. Marines in Cherry Point, North Carolina, during the VietnamWar. Dr. Lohr was honorably discharged from the Marines and, after his OB/GYN residency, he began serving as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Lexington Memorial Hospital, Lexington Medical Center and the Women’s Center of Lexington, which he established in 1970. Drawing upon 50 years of experience in medicine, he retired in 2020. During his tenure as a women’s health specialist, Dr. Lohr also served as a residency program instructor at Lexington Medical Center between 2008 and 2020 and notably delivered more than 10,000 babies. Recognized as a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Lohr is also a member of the Davidson County Medical Society, the Southern Medical Association, the Robert A. Ross OB/GYN Society and the Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society. He has earned a myriad of accolades from Lexington Memorial Hospital for his unparalleled services, as well as several Best Resident Teacher Awards. Furthermore, he was profiled in The Awards Magazine and, in October 2021, he was appointed to the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the most prestigious civilian award in North Carolina. He cites a crowning achievement of his career to be his work on female urinary incontinence, which has changed the lives of countless women under his care. Although retired, Dr. Lohr intends to continue investing in the field of obstetrics and gynecology in light of his love and passion for the field. He would also like to continue mentoring the next generation of medical residents. Hailing from a family of allied health professionals, Dr. Lloyd D. Lohr chose to enter the field of obstetricsgynecology in light of its amalgamation of several health care specialties, such as medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and short- and long-term health management.
