Dr. Zachariah joined the Baylor College of Medicine in 2015, first serving as an assistant professor. Affiliated with the Texas Children’s Hospital and Heart Center since that time, he was promoted to the rank of associate professor in 2020, where he remains today. In addition to his primary endeavors, Dr. Zachariah has been an ad hoc reviewer for grants and has authored more than 70 publications. Hiswork has been citedmore than 1,330 times since the inception of his career. To attest to his success, Dr. Zachariah won the Career Development Award from K23 in 2012 and, as an undergraduate student, he received an Outstanding Presentation Award from Rice University in 1999. Furthermore, he earned a Best Presentation for Pediatric Rounds Award from the Baylor College of Medicine. Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Zachariah enjoys addressing the socioeconomic disparities within the health care industry. Dr. Justin P.V. Zachariah desired to pursue the health care industry as a career starting from a formative age. After receiving a BA from Rice University, he went on to earn an MD from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Initially intending to delve into pediatrics, he completed a pediatric residency at the University of California San Francisco, followed by clinical fellowships in pediatric cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital with Harvard Medical School and at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in Framingham, Massachusetts. Dr. Zachariah also holds an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. Noting that his ascent into pediatric cardiology felt natural, Dr. Zachariah was the first research fellow at the FraminghamHeart Study at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. In the process of completing his fellowship, he learned the epidemiology of congenital heart disease, which led him to pursue a new interest in preventative cardiology. Intertwining his two passions, he subsequent developed a specialty in pediatric cardiology.
