Since her business’ inception, many of Ms. Odell’s students have competed in professional competitions and have worked for Broadway shows, feature films and television series. Some of her more prominent students have been stars Keri Russell and Justin Timberlake. Alongside her dance studio, Ms. Odell has sat on the advisory board of Hope Haven Rwanda in Africa since 2010. Hope Haven Rwanda aims to transform Rwandan families through various educational ventures and discipleship. Looking forward, she intends to share the art of dance with Rwandan children through this organization. Additionally, she has served as the founder of Grace Designs, a costume company, since 2019. Although her career has been suffused with highlights, Ms. Odell is especially proud of watching her dancers perform at the opening Olympic ceremony in Barcelona, Spain, in 1992. While there, her dancers performed for 40 minutes and received much acclaim from audience members. Additionally, she is grateful for the Starstruck Academy of Dance being honored as a Top Studio three times between 2016 and 2018, and Ms. Odell herself was featured on the cover of Dance Teacher Magazine. Most recently, Starstruck Academy of Dance received the 2021 award for Best of Centennial, recognizing her studio as the best in the area. Looking toward the future, Ms. Odell intends to train her three daughters – Chanel, Bree and Kylie – and have them take on more responsibility at her dance studio. She would also like to dedicate more of her time to Grace Designs, which was partly inspired by her mother, Grace. Ultimately, Ms. Odell emphasizes that her passion for dance should inspire emerging dancers to be “the best version of themselves.” Immersed in the dance industry for nearly 40 years, Lisa Holtz Odell has excelled as the owner of the Starstruck Academy of Dance in Centennial, Colorado, since 1984.
