59 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION tenure, she earned a Master of Arts from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1969 while simultaneously commencing her role as a teacher of secondary-level social studies and department chairperson for the Government of the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas between 1968 and 1983. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Henry returned to the mainland United States and enrolled in Florida State University, fromwhich she received a PhD in 1988. Beginning in 1988 after receiving her doctorate degree, Dr. Henry began serving Bemidji State University in Minnesota as an associate professor. During her tenure, she focused her efforts on student outreach, continuing education and college recruitment for Black and African American students. She ultimately attained professor emeritus status in 2008 and retired fully from her career in academia. Likewise, she authored two books, “The Girl from Jacksonville Who Dared to Dream, Hope and Believe!” and “Feeling like a Stranger in Your Hometown? Ask the Girl from Jacksonville!” Notably, proceeds from her books benefit scholarship funds at Bemidji State University. In 2018, the Edward Waters College Football Program named Dr. Henry their assistant football coach for life. As a testament to her success, Dr. Henry has received several accolades. Between 1991 and 1997, she received awards from Bryn Mawr College, the American Red Cross and the Skipping Stones Honor Award. She has also been honored in Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who in American Education for her commitment to advancing the studies and excellence of future educational professionals. A member of the National Education Association and Minnesota Black Association, she intends to still be making differences in other individuals’ lives in the forthcoming future. Desiring to help others from a formative age, Dr. Annie Belle Henry sought to enter the field of education. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from Edward Waters College in 1964, she joined the Department of Public Education in Bunnell, Florida, where she servedas a secondary school teacher from 1966 to 1968.
