Presently, Dr. Torres-Labawld is a consultant for D’Angelo’s Coffee LLC and a business consultant and the president of IMSA, LLC. Dr. Torres-Labawld held appointments at Ohio University, Knox College and Indiana University, and was a research associate at the Mershon Center for International Security Studies at The Ohio State University. He has served as chair of the finance committee of the Ohio University Christ the King Parish, an executive committee member of the Athens County Democratic Party, and a past president and current member of the Athens, Ohio, chapter of the International Lions Club. Furthermore, he is an emeritus member of the Association of Institutional Research and has been affiliated with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Torres-Labawld pursued an education at Inter-American University in Puerto Rico, where he graduated cum laude with a BA in 1957. Relocating to the mainland U.S., on scholarship awarded to him by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, he attended Syracuse University, receiving an MPA in 1959. Subsequently, he earned a PhD from The Ohio State University in 1973. He completed postgraduate business education at Dartmouth College. He attained the rank of corporal in the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Korea for two years. Dr. Torres-Labawld was honored with the Congressional Gold Medal by former President Barack Obama in 2015, and in 2018, he received the Ambassador of Freedom Medal from the Government of South Korea through the South Korea Embassy in Washington, D.C. He earned the 2019 Honor Roll Certificate from the National World War II Museum. Dr. Jose Dimas Torres-Labawld possesses expertise in academia, administration, research and consultancy. Formerly serving Hocking College for nearly 30 years, he attained professor emeritus status in 2002, previously serving as the director of institutional research from DR.
