156 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY Drawing upon a BS in health education and community health and an MPA from North Carolina Central University, Miriam B. Hanner has excelled as a program manager of the Office of Women’s Business Ownership at the U.S. Small Business Administration since 2021. Serving in the federal government for a number of years, she previously thrived with the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., as a business development specialist and program analyst between 2016 and 2021. Earlier in her career, Ms. Hanner dedicated herself to the education sector, in which she was a teacher for several school districts and a counselor for the Maryland Department of Social Services. Recently, Ms. Hanner authored “What If I Were My Dog and My Dog Were Me” in 2021. Although she has experienced many career achievements, she is especially proud of discussing drug prevention and education in the North Carolina science curriculum during her years in education. To attest to her success, she was named 1995 Teacher of the Year by the Math Science Education Network. Looking forward, she intends to work with underserved populations and help them achieve greatness.
