183 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Drawing upon over 50 years of experience in medicine and academia, Dr. James Jackson Nora has been recognized as a professor emeritus at the University of Colorado School of Medicine since 1993. Previously serving the university as a physician, writer and professor of genetics, preventive medicine and pediatrics beginning in 1971, he commenced his career at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he served as an associate professor of pediatrics between 1965 and 1971. During his tenure at the University of Colorado, he excelled in their School of Medicine as director of pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular training from 1971 to 1978. Dr. Nora holds a BA fromHarvard University, MD from Yale University and MPH from the University of California Berkeley. He completed his medical training in 1965 after serving as an intern at the DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, resident in pediatrics and fellow in cardiology at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, and fellow in genetics at the Montreal Children’s Hospital in Canada. Notably, Dr. Nora is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, American Board of Medical Genetics and American College of Cardiology. Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Nora was a consultant for the World Health Organization in Geneva between 1983 and 2010, as well as a member of the U.S.-USSR Health Exchange Program in Cardiovascular Diseases in Moscow and Leningrad, Russia, in 1975. Likewise, he is a prolific writer, having authored and co-authored more than 20 books between 1980 and 2014. Most recently, he penned “Fire and Flood” and “Beyond Sixty-Third Street” in 2014, as well as “Searching” in 2013, “Later” in 2011, “Homeless” in 2010, “War Crimes” in 2009 and “By a Truthful Storyteller” in 2009, whose second edition debuted in 2012. A fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, Dr. Nora is also an active member of Poets & Writers, Inc., the Academy of American Poets, Mystery Writers of America, the League of American Writers and the Authors Guild.
