202 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Attaining the title of professor emeritus at the University of Toronto in 1998, Dr. Malcolm D. Silver served the prestigious university as professor and chairman of the department of pathology for several years. Alongside this appointment, he also excelled as chief of pathology at the Toronto General Hospital (affiliated with the University Health Network), as well as chairman of the department of pathology at Western University. Specializing in pathology, he has since co-authored articles published in more than 200 scientific publications. Dr. Silver earned an MBBS from the University of Adelaide in 1957, followed by an MS in 1963 and a PhD in 1965, both from McGill University. In 1970, he was also honoredwith anMD from the University of Adelaide for his published work, and he holds a diploma from the American Board of Pathology. To attest to his success, he was elected a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Canadian Cardiovascular Society. Most notably, he and his late wife endowed the Meredith and Malcolm Silver Scholarship in Cardiovascular Studies at the University of Toronto. PROFESSOR EMERITUS University of Toronto Toronto, Ontario, Canada Drawing upon over 35 years of expertise in public health, epidemiology and academia, Dr. Susan Standfast retired in 1995 after serving for seven years as director of the disability prevention program and consultant epidemiologist in the Division of Family Health at the New York State Department of Health. During her tenure at the Department, she also served as director of the cancer surveillance unit and assistant to the director of the Division of Epidemiology, among other roles. She further served as an instructor at Albany Medical College, co-director of the MPH program at the State University of New York, and a consultant at the Albany VA Medical Center and Bombay Cancer Registry Tata Memorial Hospital in India. Dr. Standfast holds a BA from Wells College, MD from Columbia University and MPH from the University of California Berkeley. She is a fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and American College of Epidemiology, as well as a member of Physicians for Social Responsibility. Dr. Standfast received the 1994 Distinguished Alumnae Award from Wells College and the 2002 Volunteer Service for Health Award from the Eddy Home Care Division of NE Health.
