203 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston Friendswood, TX CHARLOTTE WISNEWSKI, PHD As a child, Dr. Charlotte Wisnewski was a patient at a local hospital, where she admired her nurses. As a young adult, she earned a diploma in nursing from Orange Memorial Hospital in 1968, whereupon she began serving as a supervisor at the Morristown Memorial Hospital. She subsequently received a BSN, summa cum laude, from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 1976, followed by an MSN and a PhD in nursing from Texas Woman’s University in 1978 and 1996, respectively. Over the course of her extensive career, Dr. Wisnewski served as a staff nurse in several hospitals across the nation before delving into academia. From 1983 to 1996, she was a professor at the College of the Mainland and, since 1996, has excelled as an associate professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where she was also the director of the BSN program for four years. She notably focuses on diabetes treatment and cardiac nursing. As a prolific writer, she has contributed to medical journals and presented her research at conferences. For her efforts, she earned the BSN Faculty Award in 2001, 2002 and 2007. Recognizing the need for psychiatric services in her home state of Louisiana, particularly regarding adolescent psychiatric care, Dr. Barbara F. Willis decided to delve into medicine. She earned an MD from Louisiana State University in 1985 and, subsequently, completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Francis Hospital and a fellowship in adult psychiatry at her alma mater. A former Medicaid rehabilitation staff psychiatrist, Dr. Willis has excelled as a psychiatrist with Barton Associates since 2016. In her role, she focuses her efforts on child and adolescent psychiatry, and attributes her success to her dedication to provide the best possible care for all of her patients. In light of her success, Dr. Willis was elected for Top Psychiatrist in Louisiana for the Leading Physicians in the World in 2018. Outside of her primary endeavors, she supports her local church and donates to numerous charitable organizations. A member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Willis also holds a master’s degree in health administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
