208 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE For her efforts and achievements in athleticism, Ms. Wright was elected to the New Zealand Order of Merit by the Queen of England in 2018, and she has been nominated on a myriad of occasions for Choreographer of the Year and Coach of the Year. Notably, in 2020, she was inducted into the United States Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Wright has dedicated her time to civic initiatives, having served as a volunteer coach and choreographer at the University of Utah for more than 10 years. In addition to this feat, she has taught high-profile U.S. athletes and coaches on routine dancing, as well as established a free program for children with intellectual disabilities who wish to learn gymnastics. Furthermore, Ms. Wright spends her free time at local pet shelters, and she has maintained active involvement in canine rescue, care and adoption work. Interested in gymnastics from a very young age, Mary Wright began training competitively in gymnastics when she was 11 years old and, eventually, turned her attention to coaching at the age of 15. Establishing her own gymnastics club when she turned 20 years old, Ms. Wright has held an innate ability to perfect her craft, as well as teach other gymnasts how to exceed their own expectations and become terrific athletes. Notably, more than 132 athletes have received scholarships to college for gymnastics, and 11 of her students became Olympians in the United States, Canada and New Zealand. After coaching gymnastics at her own gym for more than 40 years, Ms. Wright sold her gym in 2014 and co-founded Masters of Sports in 2015, where she excels today as a gymnastics coach and educator. Through her work, she has provided educational support to all types of gymnastics coaches across the globe. Additionally, she is in the process of writing and publishing her very first book on gymnastics, which she hopes will serve as a training and teaching guide for fellow coaches and gymnasts.
