92 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING Growing up, Skylar R. DeWeese, PE, witnessed both of his parents become involved in the civil engineering industry. As they both had worked on the Roosevelt Dam in Arizona, Mr. DeWeese sought to enter the same field himself. Receiving a BS in civil engineering from the University of New Mexico in 2008, he previously studied traffic and transportation engineering before delving into geotechnical engineering. During this transition, he joined the staff of Bohannan Huston, Inc., in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as a field and materials testing laboratory manager. Subsequently, he served as a testing technician before acquiring his current role as a civil engineer and geotechnical engineer. Certified in myriad areas, Mr. DeWeese is a certified aggregate materials testing and laboratory technician and holds additional credentials in concrete strength testing, concrete field testing, hot mix asphalt material testing and soil materials testing. Civically engaged as well, he frequently serves as a donor to the Salvation Army and many other charitable efforts. Additionally, he has maintained affiliation with the American Concrete Institute, the Asphalt Pavement Association of New Mexico, and the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s Technician Training and Certification Program. Mr. DeWeese attributes his success to his quality of testing, and he prides himself on his ability to test materials accurately and efficiently. Looking toward the future, he intends to help grow the laboratory to become its own group. Additionally, he would like to advance professionally at Bohannan Huston, Inc., in an effort to hold greater responsibility in the laboratory and oversee staff members.
