During this time, he also served as an adjunct professor of law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law for five years and sat on the committees on professional ethics, commercial litigation, and mergers and acquisitions for three years. Prior to his retirement in 1993, Mr. McAmis was a special pro bono partner. Most notably, however, he is especially proud of serving as the attorney for the Financial General against Metzger in the District Court of Washington, D.C. Outside of his primary law endeavors, Mr. McAmis was an organizer for the YES Institute and maintained active affiliation with the Community Research Initiative of New York, Lambda Legal and the Aston Magna Music Festival. Currently, he is affiliated with the American Civil Liberties Union. As a testament to his success, he held an AV Preeminent Rating via Martindale-Hubbell for many years. While contemplating his future career path as a young high school student, Edwin Earl McAmis was encouraged to attend Harvard University. Shortly thereafter, he graduated magna cum laude from the renowned academic institution with a Bachelor of Arts in politics and history in 1956. Determined to further his education, he subsequently graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1959. Since obtaining his law degree, Mr. McAmis was admitted to practice law in New York, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second, Third and District of Columbia Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. At the inception of his career, Mr. McAmis served as an associate for Webster, Sheffield & Chrystie from 1959 to 1961, followed by associate roles at Regan, Goldfarb, Powell & Quinn and Lovejoy, Wasson, Lundgren & Ashton, the latter of which escalated him to the rank of partner in 1969.
