SCHWARTZ, MD, FACOG OBSTETRICIAN-GYNECOLOGIST (RETIRED), EDUCATOR Medical College of Wisconsin Milwaukee, WI Prior to his retirement in 1994, Dr. Walter R. Schwartz committed more than 35 years to the study, practice, and teachings of obstetrics and gynecology. Recognized as an esteemed figure in the field of medicine, he served as an associate clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, between 1976 and 1994. Prior to attaining this position, Dr. Schwartz served as an assistant clinical professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin from 1968 to 1976. In addition to his responsibilities as an educator, he was a staff member at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital from 1971 to 1994 and the Sinai Samaritan Hospital and West Allis Hospital from 1961 to 1994. Having lent his breadth of knowledge and expertise to several hospitals and clinics in the region, Dr. Schwartz likewise spent time as a courtesy staff member within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Lutheran Hospital of Milwaukee from 1961 to 1964, as well as from 1990 to 1992. Punctuating these appointments, he served the Lutheran Hospital as an attending staff member between 1967 and 1990 and an associate staff member between 1964 and 1967. Furthermore, Dr. Schwartz excelled as a clinical instructor in obstetrics and gynecology at the Marquette County General Hospital from 1961 to 1968. Outside of his primary career path, Dr. Schwartz has served on numerous boards and committees in relation to his areas of expertise. He was on the medical examining board of Wisconsin between 1991 and 1999, served on the professional review committee of the West Allis Physicians Association from 1985 to 1994, and was a visiting staff member at the Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital between 1981 and 1994. To supplement these prestigious roles, Dr. Schwartz also thrived as a longstanding consulting staff member at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital in West Bend, Wisconsin, from 1961 to 1990. To prepare for his fruitful career, Dr. Schwartz pursued a formal education at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1962. He subsequently attained an MD from the
