Concurrent to his tenure at his law firm, Mr. Erlach also excelled as an assistant district attorney and deputy city attorney in San Francisco, California, between 1973 and 1982. Admitted to practice in the State of California, Mr. Erlach has also been admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Central and Eastern Districts of California. Since 1984, he has further lent his expertise to the San Francisco Superior Court as a judge pro tempore, and formerly served as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law between 1993 and 2001. Likewise, he was a longstanding member of the panel of judicial arbitrators for the San Francisco Superior Court from 1998 to 2012. Authoring course materials on “Tax Shelters and Return on Investment” for Golden Gate University in 1985 and again from 1998 to 2000, Mr. Erlach further contributed his expertise to the works “Trial Preparation: Visualizing the Big Picture Early On Is Essential to Effective Presentation of Your Case” and “Trial Preparation: Presenting Conflicting Evidence with Convincing Force” through The Practitioner in 1997. Mr. Erlach has aligned himself professionally with the Federal Circuit Bar Association, litigation section of the State Bar of California, the National Conference of Bar Presidents, the board of governors of the Lawyers’ Club of San Francisco, and the committee on fee disputes in the litigation section of the Bar Association of San Francisco, where he is an arbitrator.
