A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 323 J oe Savage is a prominent figure in the legal field. Before making a name for himself as an attorney, Mr. Savage attended college as a pre-med student before deciding not to continue with that profession. His next choice was to study law, blending his knowledge of the two fields to create a successful future. He subsequently earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1964 and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1965 and became a certified civil trial law advocate. For 42 years, he has been running his own private practice, The Joe C. Savage Law Firm, which handles medical malpractice, major automobile and truck collisions, airplane crashes, and product failure cases. Aside from his role as an attorney, he serves as a lecturer in law, medicine and insurance at the University of Kentucky College of Law and is involved in continuing legal education programs in his home state of Kentucky. Mr. Savage has received many awards and accolades for his work, including a Justice Thomas B. Spain Award and being named an Outstanding Lawyer of Kentucky and one of the Best Lawyers in America by the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was named the 2011 Lawyer of the Year in medical malpractice law and was inducted into the University of Kentucky College of Law Hall of Fame in 2003. He serves on the board of directors of Trinity Hill Methodist Church and the board of governors of the Kidney Foundation, and is a former president of the Kentucky Bar Association. Mr. Savage continues to give back as a supporter of Florence Crittenton, the International Society of Barristers and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
