A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 67 where he graduated cum laude with a BA in 1977. He went on to receive a MPH from the University of Hawaii and MD from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed an internship and residency at the University of Hawaii between 1982 and 1985. Commencing his career as a physician in the Kaiser Permanente Honolulu Medical Office, he later joined the faculty at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1986, where he served as an instructor and assistant clinical professor before taking on his current role of associate professor in 2003. Alongside this appointment, he is also the director of faculty affairs and founding chairman of the Hawaii Consortium for Continuing Medical Education. Dr. Brady attributes his profound success to his ability to listen closely to his patients and take advantage of the opportunities presented to him. To share his wealth of knowledge with the medical and academic communities, he has been the co-host of “Ask the Doctor” on KHON2-TV for 23 years, having previously hosted the television series “UH on Call” and “Health in Paradise.” Driven by his ambition to improve native Hawaiian health disparities, he has sat as chairman of the continuing medical education committee of the Hawaii Medical Association since 1987 and has been the editor of the Hawaii Journal of Medicine and Public Health since 2005. Dr. Brady has consistently been named One of the Best Doctors in America since 2001 and was recognized as Physician of the Year by the Hawaii Medical Association in 2007. Decorated with myriad accolades since first obtaining a research grant from the Kuakini Medical Center in 1971, he cites taking care of patients and watching them recover to be the most rewarding aspect of his career. D r. Stephen Kalani Brady has held an affinity for helping others in need since he was a young boy. Expressing his desire to go into medicine at 3 years old, he later started conducting medical research by the time he was a sophomore in high school.
