Coffey had always been interested in how things worked, so when she attended the University of Calgary, she was encouraged to explore these interests through the engineering field. In 1987, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and later received a Project Management Professional certification as well. With nearly 30 years of experience and knowledge of the field today, she has become a very prominent and well- respected engineer. Ms. Coffey was a partner with Concise Design Engineering Services for 16 years and also developed its quality management systems. While she was there, she served as senior process/project manager and engineering manager. Some of her duties included designing sweet and sour gas-processing facilities, sweet and sour medium and heavy oil batteries, and waterflood and polymer facilities. She was also responsible for construction management, cost control, commissioning and startups, cost estimating, permitting and licensing, and processing facility design. While working as the technical services manager for Laricina Energy Ltd, Ms. Coffey completed several value engineering exercises on two of Laricina’s major facilities and optimized numerous projects for the company. In June 2013, Ms. Coffey became a founding member, managing director and project manager for Sentio Engineering in Calgary. Here, her responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, including marketing and process design, providing on-time and on- budget project management, managing client interaction, developing effective solutions to difficult problems using an innovative approach, and offering both project management and process engineering skills from cradle to grave on any project.
