A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 265 D r. Paul S. Mostert always had a knack for mathematics. During his years as an undergraduate at Rhodes College, he took a course on differential equations, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and it ignited his interest in pursuing the field as a career. Before finding his passion, he thought he was going to be a lawyer but soon discovered that route was not for him. He delved into education as a graduate teaching assistant in mathematics for Purdue University, then continued sharing his expertise at Tulane University, the University of Tübingen, Princeton University, the University of Kansas, and the University of Kentucky. Alongside teaching, Dr. Mostert has been in many leadership roles, serving as president of EQUIX Biomechanics and EQUIX Research Corporation; owner and proprietor of The Mostert Group; manager of Mostert Seales Research Company, LLC; and manager of MedMo, LLC, a position he has held since 2016. Dr. Mostert’s career has included several notable achievements over the years. He formed the Semigroup Forum and founded a journal with two mathematicians at the request of other professionals in the field at a meeting in Czechoslovakia. The journal will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, for which he is currently writing an article. Additionally, he obtained a patent for methods and computer-readable media for navigating between a plurality of discrete images. Dr. Mostert attributes his success to his mentors, Dr. Marian McQueen; Sonders McClain, head of the National Academy of Sciences; and Paul Halmos, who was considered the best mathematics writer in the world. Of all of his mentors, Dr. Mostert was most influenced by Dr. McQueen, who obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Chicago. The life Dr. McQueen led was one that Dr. Mostert wanted to emulate, so he attended the same university and earned a Master of Science in mathematics. PAUL S.
